About Shimmie Horn

SHIMMIE HORN, Founder and Chairman

In his early 30′s Shimmie Horn heads up an emerging hotel and real estate empire initially founded by his grandfather in 1951 and enlarged by his father in the 70′s & 80′s and early 90’s.

Following their untimely deaths in the early & mid 1990′s the recent graduate of the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law was thrust at young age into a leadership role as manager of the family’s business & property interests. Immediately responsible for four Manhattan hotels, Horn saw potential coming out of the recession in the early 90′s and decided to significantly enhance his hotel products.

Following the 1996 refurbishment of the Iroquois Hotel on Manhattan’s West 44th St, the Iroquois was invited into membership of Small Luxury Hotels of the World as its Manhattan flagship. With the addition of the award- winning Triomphe Restaurant, the Iroquois firmly belongs in what has become New York’s famous hotel row on West 44th Street between 5th & 6th Avenues; alongside the Algonquin, Royalton, Sofitel, City Club Hotels and the Yale, Harvard & NY Yacht clubs as well as the New York Bar Association.

Today under the umbrella of Triumph Hospitality, Horn’s four Manhattan hotels (Iroquois, Chandler, Belleclaire and Washington Jefferson) employ some 220 staff. In addition to these four hotels, Horn has interests in numerous other hotels, residential and office properties throughout New York City and New York State.

Horn graduated from Yeshiva University Law School and was admitted to the New York State Bar in 2000.
